Distinguished and Famous people from Corowa

📚 Sir John Quick

Bendigo lawyer and federation advocate John Quick made a significant contribution to the movement for an Australian federation at Corowa’s 1893 conference. His proposal set out a process involving an elected convention and a popular vote on the resulting constitution. It helped give a practical route to an idea that had struggled to progress. Corowa’s Odd Fellows Hall preserves the setting of that meeting. The meeting gave this visiting delegate an enduring place in the town’s history.
